The aim of Class40: to bring together talented amateurs and professionals in an atmosphere of conviviality and good racing
 
Now in its 15th year, Class40 has fulfilled this goal, partly thanks to the rigorous Class Rules which limit costs and keep the fleet relatively homogenous. There are a number of avenues to be explored, but the class wishes to maintain a fair balance between performance and accessibility.

In 2019, All Purpose designs and manufactures special sails for the new Class40 with "scow" nose : Jorg Riechers and Ian Lipinsky.
